Skeletal dysplasias and dysostoses are a diverse group of rare genetic conditions that affect bone growth, development, and structure. These conditions often require highly specialized expertise for accurate diagnosis and management. ISDS serves as a central scientific resource for professionals working in this complex field.

Members collaborate across disciplines and geographic boundaries to share knowledge, advance research, and improve clinical outcomes.

ISDS hosts biennial international scientific meetings that provide a forum for presenting research, discussing complex cases, and exploring advances in genetics, imaging, and clinical care. These meetings are central to the Society’s mission of fostering collaboration and innovation.

The 2026 meeting will occur in Toronto, CA, August 26 - 29, 2026.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
The next ISDS meeting will happen in 2027 in Keele, UK. A one-year interval between meetings will occur only this year to alternate with the biennial ICCBH meeting.

One of ISDS’s most significant contributions is the development and ongoing revision of the international nosology and classification of genetic skeletal disorders. This widely used resource supports consistent diagnosis, research, and communication among specialists worldwide.

ISDS promotes ongoing education through:

• Skeldys cases - A place to post your anonymized clinical cases to ask friends and colleagues for their input.
